BAKO NATIONAL PARK

                                            BAKO NATIONAL PARK
                                      Sarawak, Malaysia in beautiful Borneo

Bako National Park is a 2,,742 hectare park, the oldest national park in Sarawak located approximately forty kilometers north of Kuching along a good highway to Kampung Bako. From there it is a twenty minute boat ride to the park, but trips are at the mercy of the weather and tides , make sure to catch the last boat out by 3:00 p.m. or you will be staying over night. A beautiful park with much diversity, so much so that a day trip is really not enough time to explore it all. Many trails through the park with changing scenery around every bend, a naturalist dream. But if you're going to stay a day or two be sure to bring food along. The cafe in Bako is very limited buffet, serving much the same selection of food for all three meals and only luke warm food at that. The rooms are OK but a little pricey for what your getting. Definitely a place to go and see the the rare Proboscis monkey, they are red listed as endangered.

Check out the web site for Sarawak Forestry for bookings.

It's well worth a visit, but do stay a few days to really enjoy it. To see the birds and the various plants as well as to enjoy the sculptured rock does take time.

                                             KUCHING, SARAWAK, MALAYSIA

                                                         BEAUTIFUL BORNEO

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is a seven hundred forty hectare unfenced park located twenty five      minutes from downtown Kuching. A beautiful forested  park where one can see many interesting plant  species from the front gate to the the muster station about a kilometer down the road.

The orangutans in the park are semi wild, free roaming, this means they are free to go where they want. If you see one on the road or coming towards you, back away slowly and give way to them. The park gives visitors a rare opportunity to see the orangutan up close and it's a great place for children.
